Due to increase in demand nationally, ICS are seeking Independent Care Advisors to ensure the continual deliverance of an effective care brokerage service, for new and existing clients. We insist that our staff are committed to working in a person-centred way in line with the Personalisation Agenda.
The role will consist of visiting individuals and their families, to assess their needs and help them formulate solutions, enabling them to live their lives in a way that they choose. Some of the workload will be straight forward, at other times it will require you to explore particular issues and use your experience/knowledge.
It is essential that you are able to clearly identify an individual’s needs or support requirements, whilst applying a holistic approach.
You will need to have experience of managing caseloads, of working to timescales and of organising your own diary. You will definitely need to have effective communication skills and a non-judgemental attitude.
Although you will be expected to be self-motivated and responsible for your own workload, all work carried out will be monitored and regular support is always available.

JOB DESCRIPION
Summary of Post:
Assisting clients to realise what support they may need to live life the way they choose. Making a plan, working out the cost, identifying and accessing community resources, directly liaising/negotiating with service providers and ultimately ‘making it happen’ for the client.
Core Objectives:
To ensure the continual deliverance of an effective care brokerage service, for new and existing clients.
Location:
Any referrals will be in particular geographical area local to the Independent Care Advisor. Training and meetings will take place at the ICS Head Office in Shrewsbury.
Hours of work/Rate of pay:
This is a self-employed role yet a level of commitment is expected. There are no guaranteed set hours but you will be paid ‘per case’. Rate of pay are to be agreed dependent on experience and area of work.
Main Duties:
The role of Independent Care Advisor is a flexible one and incorporates many duties that require varied skills. Some of the workload will be straight forward, at other times it will require you to explore particular issues and use your experience and knowledge.
Key tasks will include:
· Clarifying the individual’s needs and expectations using assessing skills
· Assisting to develop a vision of a preferred lifestyle for the individual
· Supporting the development and sustainability of an individual’s personal support network
· Identifying and accessing community resources
· Direct liaison and negotiation with service providers
· Arrangement and implementation of plans as directed by the individual, family and personal support network
· Mediation and problem resolving (as directed by the individual)
· Reviewing of plan and ongoing support as required
Personal Attributes & Skills Required:
• Excellent listening skills and the ability to communicate information effectively.
• Ability to work systematically in collecting and interpreting information.
• Ability to carry out needs assessments and then document the planning process and its proposed outcomes.
• Experience of service contracting, monitoring and problem solving.
• Local knowledge of services and community support available.
• Awareness of roles of ‘enabler and supporter’ and the ability to work within these roles.
• Ability to liaise and maintain effective working relationships with relevant professionals.
• Ability to assist in developing or broadening an individual’s personal network.
• Ability to work on own initiative and be able to prioritise work tasks, along with a problem solving approach to tasks and good IT skills
• A clear understanding of the boundaries of the Independent Care Advisor’s various roles.
• An ability to remain objective at all times.
