What is a Personal Assistant (PA) ?

Eligible people can receive money from social services, called Direct Payments. They use this money to arrange their own assistance by employing people called PAs or Support Workers. These employees assist and support their employer in their own homes, at work or out and about.

What are the differences between PAs and Carers?

  • PAs work for the individual as their employer and not for a company.
  • PAs provide sup PAs work with individuals, not in a group setting.
  • Port and assistance which may include or exclude care.
  • PAs are unlikely to be required to wear any type of uniform.
